Ancient Civilization of Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties from Henan on Display in Hong Kong

On April 2, the exhibition Ancient Civilization of the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties in Henan Province, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Henan Museum, opened at the Hong Kong Museum of History. 
This exhibition marks the first large-scale exhibition of the General History of China Series, which is co-presented by the Hong Kong Museum of History and Chinese Culture Promotion Office. It showcases over 150 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, of which 33 pieces (sets) are grade one national treasures and about 40 pieces (sets) are on display outside Henan Province for the first time. They include large and complete sets of bronze ware, jade ware, potteries, bone ware and oracle bones, from the collections of the Henan Museum as well as 15 other museums and cultural institutions in the province. The exhibition allows members of the public to learn more about the ancient civilization and history of China, starting from the earliest dynasties. The exhibition traces important cities’ remains in Henan province and introduces the political, social and cultural landscapes, as well as the rituals and etiquette of the three dynasties. The exhibition also introduces the State-led Xia-Shang-Zhou Chronology Project and the Chinese Civilization Origins Project to enhance public awareness of these national Chinese historical research projects and Chinese civilization.
The exhibition is open until July 8.
