Fate of the Museum Exhibition Opened in Minsk

On 17 February 2022 the new temporary exhibition Fate of the Museum – Fate of the Country. A Hundred-years Journey opened at the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus. This exhibition project is dedicated to the history of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus in 20th century, since the birth of the institution till the revival after the devastation of the Second World War.

When was the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus established? Who were the first collectors and custodians of national values? What was the fate of museum collections during the turbulent 20th century? Exhibition Fate of the Museum – Fate of the Country. A Hundred-years Journey gives answers to these questions.

The exhibition is based on the studies of researchers of the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The sections of the exposition reflect the most significant stages in its history. The exhibition will feature a variety of museum exhibits – artifacts from different historical eras, collected by museum staff in 1910s-1950s.Some museum items are presented to visitors for the first time.

The National Library of Belarus, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus, the State Archive of the Minsk Region, the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War are taking part in the exhibition project.
