
“The Belt and Road · the Great Wall International Folk Culture and Arts Festival 2021” held between September 15 and 17, 2021 in the International Art Exchange Center of Silk Road in Langfang and Qinhuangdao in Hebei province in Northern part of China to promote international cultural exchanges and cooperation. The festival was designed for international and domestic audiences to enjoy thousand-year-long history of the Silk Road and the magnificent scenarios along the Belt and Road.
At the Silk Road International Cultural Exchange Center, the main venue, the opening ceremony as well as a series of activities were staged, such as the cultural performance titled “Mutual Prosperity”, Azerbaijan Classic Operetta titled “The Cloth Peddler”, the Peking opera, and the piano concerto. In line with exhibitions such as Splendid Creation from Nature: Qi Baishi Painting and Calligraphy Arts, Evolution: the Future of the Public, and Wu Jian’an: The huge sand dunes are the bed of the sea, online and offline seminars for Chinese and foreign artists and a carnival for folk arts are held. The exhibition which displays intangible cultural heritage of 100 years from countries along the Silk Road demonstrates the huge influence of the Silk Road on mutual learning between eastern and western cultures. Twenty-one activities in three modules, namely “a date with opera”, “dancing along the silk road” and “sound of the silk road” were presented to the audiences online.
A parallel session in Qinhuangdao features activities including the opening ceremony and cultural performances, Great Wall symphony concert, dialogues on the intangible cultural heritage and a photography exhibition titled “Beauty of the Great Wall”.
