Recently, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) released the theme for the International Museum Day 2022, “The Power of Museums”, which aims to highlight the huge potential and powerful abilities of the museums to influence humankind. The theme will also be adopted for the 26th ICOM’s General Conference, to be held in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, in the week of August 20 to 28, 2022.

ICOM indicates that the museums in the 21st century have huge potential and influence, which can make the world better. A detailed explanation of this theme will be published recently.

In 1977, ICOM established May 15 as the first International Museum Day, to advance the development of global museums and to attract the attention, comprehension and participation of the public. Since then, the museums around the world hold a variety of publicities and commemorations to celebrate the festival belonging to themselves on May 15 every year, so that more people can get a closer view of the museum and better utilize their social functions.
