Exhibition on Chinese Bamboo Carving Inaugurates in Liechtenstein

The exhibition Art of Chinese Bamboo Carving from the Shanghai Museum co-organized by the Liechtenstein National Museum and the Shanghai Museum was held in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, which serves as a significant channel for the audience from Europe and even the whole world to appreciate the art of Chinese bamboo carving. This is the first time that the works of bamboo carving collected from the Shanghai Museum were presented systematically in Europe in a considerable amount.

Bamboo carving belongs to a special category of Chinese arts and crafts, with unique technique, aesthetics and cultural spirit. The 60 pieces of exquisite bamboo carvings selected from the vast collection of the Shanghai Museum introduce the achievement, features and techniques of Chinese bamboo carving from the early 17th century to the mid-20th century, inviting the audience to a world of traditional Chinese handicrafts and the literati lifestyle in Jiangnan, the region on the south of the Yangtze River.
