
On August 29, 2022, Maritime Silk Route·The Harmony of Xiangjiang River: Exhibition on Treasures of Foreign Exchanges from Xiangjiang River Basin during Han and Tang Dynasties opened at the Tongguan Kiln Museum in Changsha. Put on display were over 180 pieces of cultural relics from 10 institutions from the Xiangjiang River Basin, including the Tongguan Kiln Museum, Hunan Museum, Changsha Museum, and Changsha Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and more, presenting a feast of history and culture.
Focusing on Maritime Silk Route, the exhibition includes several sessions, including "Xiangjiang River Basin of Hunan’s Foreign Exchanges during Warring States Period", "Xiangjiang Shipping Connecting River and Sea", and "Changsha Kiln - A Shining Pearl of Xiangjiang River", telling the story of flourishing foreign exchanges of Hunan’s Xiangjiang River basin during the Han and Tang dynasties and exploring the significant role of the area in the Maritime Silk Route.
On the day of opening, “Maritime Silk Route — International Cultural Exchanges in Xiangjiang River Basin”, an academic seminar was also held. Experts elaborated on the history and foreign exchanges along the Maritime Silk Route in the Xiangjiang River basin from perspectives of the system and value of China’s Maritime Silk Route, international cultural exchanges in Hunan and the Xiangjiang area, export of the Changsha wares and relations between the Maritime Silk Route and the Xiangjiang River Basin.
