The exhibition titled Impressions of Han and Wei Dynasties: Chinese Costumes (200BC-600AD), jointly organized by the China National Silk Museum and the Xuzhou Museum, opened at the China National Silk Museum on September 9, 2022.
As the Silk Road was connected and cultural exchanges between the East and the West grew frequent, Han and Wei dynasties saw merging of diverse cultures, pushing costume culture to a new level. Traditional silk technique absorbed many new elements; import, planting and application of various vegetable dyes turned textiles more colorful.
Exhibits on display include over 40 pieces (sets) of painted pottery figurines from the Xuzhou Museum, and textiles and apparel from the China National Silk Museum. The figurines in colorful apparels depicts vividly various walks of life. By putting together different artifacts like pottery figurines, belt hooks and silk apparels, the exhibition seeks to show the glamor of Chinese costume culture.
