Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou and Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum in Malacca Establish Maritime Silk Road Cooperation

        The Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou, China and Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum in Malacca, Malaysia signed a framework cooperation agreement at the Nanyue King Museum on January 9th. The two museums will establish in-depth cooperation across all aspects of cultural heritage conservation, tourism development, exhibition publicity and other areas of the Maritime Silk Road.

        With the signing of an agreement for friendly cooperation, the two museums will establish close ties and leverage their respective cultural heritage resource advantages to accelerate the exchanges between countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road. They will foster cooperation between China and Southeast Asian countries on the conservation of the Maritime Silk Road and joint nomination for world cultural heritage, which will better protect and carry forward the culture of Maritime Silk Road.

        To further promote the conservation of the Maritime Silk Road and the joint nomination for world cultural heritage, the Cities Alliance for Maritime Silk Road Heritage Conservation and World Heritage Nomination was established under the guidance of the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China in April, 2018. Led by the city of Guangzhou, the Alliance promotes research, conservation, management, usage and nomination of Maritime Silk Road heritage, and actively engages with cities along the Maritime Silk Road, including Malacca, on multiple levels.
