
The National Museum of China carefully selected over 300 objects from its rich collections of ancient Chinese porcelain and presented the thematic exhibition Ancient Chinese Porcelain in March, 2023.
The exhibition, divided in four parts “The Deep Roots,” “Porcelain Craftsmanship,” ”Elegance and Brilliance,” and “A Fame Travels Far” , exemplifies the evolution of Chinese porcelain in terms of glaze, shape, decoration, and manufacturing technology, from its birth to progress in porcelain-making techniques and decorative styles, from porcelain-centered international cultural interactions to the social transformations and aesthetics behind the porcelain wares. The evolution of Chinese porcelain highlights the long history, profundity, and splendor of traditional Chinese culture. Over the 5000-year history of civilization, the Chinese people have made significant contributions to the progress of human civilization with the splendor of Chinese civilization. Porcelain as one of the most recognizable icons of traditional Chinese culture is an ingenious creation by the Chinese and a great invention in the human history of material culture.
