Russia and Tajikistan Sign Memorandum of Scientific Cooperation

The State Hermitage Museum of Russia and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan signed a memorandum of scientific cooperation on April 13, 2023. The signing ceremony was held in the Council Hall of the State Hermitage Museum.

The memorandum will promote scientific exchanges between the State Hermitage Museum, the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Institute for History, Archaeology and Ethnography. It will also foster cooperation in archaeology, restoration and conservation. Both parties have emphasised that they will continue to conduct archaeological research at the site of ancient Penjikent in Tajikistan, explore its cultural status and study other heritage sites in the region. Furthermore, both parties will cooperate in the areas of conservation and restoration of cultural relics, education and training, and publicity.

The signing of the memorandum marks a new phase in the scientific and cultural exchanges between the State Hermitage Museum and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. The cooperation is of great significance to strengthening scientific and cultural ties between the two nations.
