“Beyond Arts and Crafts: From Morris to Mackintosh” Opens at Tsinghua University Art Museum

The exhibition Beyond Arts and Crafts: From Morris to Mackintosh opened at the Tsinghua University Art Museum on February 5. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Tsinghua University Art Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and Art Exhibitions China.
Featuring 124 masterpieces (sets) from the collections of the V&A by William Morris and his followers of the British Arts and Crafts Movement, the exhibition is organized into six parts, “Delicate Touch”, “Exuberant Pattern”, “Significant Ornaments”, “International Ceramics”, “Glamorous Detachment” and “New Architecture”. These artworks are displayed alongside over 70 precious exhibits from the collections of the Tsinghua University Art Museum. The exhibition provides an in-depth interpretation of this golden age of applied arts in the world history of design. It lets visitors experience up-close the fusion of art and technology, the innovation and creativity of human wisdom, and the exchanges and integration between diverse civilizations..
The exhibition is open until May 26.
