On May 18th, the "Night of Museums" was celebrated at the State Museum of Oriental Art, Russia under the topic of "From Generation to Generation, Family Heirlooms". The occasion traditionally gathers the most devoted fans of the eastern peoples’ culture. This year, in addition to the usual forms of interaction with visitors, the organizers decided to try a new format for the Museum: a theatrical reading of a play.
This year’s event was organized in cooperation with the students of the Higher School of Economics, Russia. A "museum" atmosphere really prevailed in the halls, as students dressed in oriental outfits asked guests difficult riddles during the museum quest. The finishing point of the quest was the Scientific Library, where the participants were introduced to the rarest manuscript: the Chinese-Russian dictionary of Father Iakinf Bichurin from 1895. This was the first public appearance of the ancient manuscript.
