On 12 September 2024, Notre Dame de Paris: The Augmented Exhibition jointly presented by the National Museum of China, the Public Establishment in Charge of the Conservation and Restoration of Notre Dame de Paris, the L'oreal Group and the French company Histovery was unveiled at the National Museum of China.
Notre Dame de Paris is a radiant pearl in human history and the glory of European civilization, witnessing the evolution of French history. Over the past 800 years, it suffered several disasters but was reborn each time, and has become more and more brilliant through time. In April 2019, the spire of Notre Dame de Paris collapsed in a fire accident, making countless people heart-broken. Five years later, with the joint efforts of people all over the world, including China, Notre Dame is about to complete its restoration and reopen to the public. As the Chinese saying goes, “The phoenix rises from the ashes and is reborn from the fire”.
This exhibition is not only a review of Notre Dame's 860-year history, but also a tribute to all the people in the world who have helped bring this world heritage site back to life. As a key project to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France and the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, the exhibition uses augmented reality technology to integrate physical and digital technologies, presenting a visual feast for visitors.
The exhibition lasted until 20 October.
