Exhibition on Civilisation of Qin and Han Dynasties Opens in Hong Kong

The exhibition The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: The Great Unity - Civilisation of the Qin and Han Dynasties in Shaanxi Province, co-hosted by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration, was unveiled at the Hong Kong Museum of History on April 15.
The exhibition features over 100 pieces (sets) of treasured exhibits from the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, the Hanyangling Museum and the Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology as well as more than 20 pieces (sets) of objects of the Qin and Han dynasties unearthed in Hong Kong, including the terracotta army of Emperor Qin Shihuang, architectural components and the warrior and animal figurines of the Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty. Among the exhibits, eleven pieces are designated as national Grade-One cultural relics, with four of them being displayed outside mainland China for the first time. The exhibition showcases the development of politics, economy, culture, technology and cross-border transportation during the Qin and Han dynasties. 
The exhibition is the second programme of the General History of China Series. The series introduces the significant periods of Chinese history in chronological order from the earliest Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties to modern times, giving the audiences a more concrete understanding of the development and continuity of Chinese history and culture as well as the course of historical development of China.
The exhibition will run until July 7.
