Guangdong Museum Unveils “Splendors of the Al-Sabah Collection from Kuwait”

On December 9, Guangdong Museum unveiled the Splendors of the Al-Sabah Collection from Kuwait exhibition at an opening ceremony. The event was jointly organized by the Guangdong Museum, Art Exhibitions China and the Al-Sabah royal collection of Kuwait.
The exhibition brings together more than 200 items from Kuwait’s Al-Sabah royal collection. Tracing the evolution of art from Mesopotamia to the Silk Road, it comprehensively showcases the beauty of ancient artworks and exchanges among civilizations. Organized into four sections— “Bronze and Stone”, “Imperial Splendor”, “Hellenistic Brilliance” and “Persian Radiance”, the exhibition explores the transition from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age through stone sculptures and bronzes; gold and silverware from early empires; exquisite jewelry and everyday objects from the Hellenistic period; the distinctive artistic style of the Sasanian Empire; and cultural interactions with the Tang dynasty of China via the Silk Road.
The exhibition is open until March 8, 2026.
