Poly MGM Museum Cultural Exchange Program 2026 Opens in Macao

On April 11, the POLY MGM MUSEUM Cultural Exchange Program 2026—Weaving the Legacy of Silk Roads opened in Macao, bringing together 500 experts and distinguished scholars from museums and cultural institutions in mainland China, Macao and abroad.

During the event, the Poly MGM Museum signed memoranda of understanding with the Capital Museum, Xinjiang Museum, Gansu Provincial Museum, Shaanxi History Museum and Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou Lu Xun Memorial Hall), laying the foundation for long-term collaboration in exhibition exchange, academic research, resource sharing and talent development.

The museum announced a major exhibition for the fourth quarter of 2026. Titled Luminous Brilliance: The Artistry of Zibo Glaze, the exhibition will be organized in collaboration with the National Museum of China and the Zibo Ceramic and Glass Museum. Featuring more than 180 exhibits, it will trace 3,000 years of development in Chinese glassmaking, while highlighting points of interest such as comparisons between ancient Chinese and Western glass, the juxtaposition of historical and contemporary works, and the integration of physical displays with digital presentation.

The exchange program also featured two thematic sessions: “Harmony and Coexistence: Forging a Shared Future Through Dialogue” and “Curating Confluence: Museums as Nexuses for Sino-Western Cultural Exchanges. Scholars and experts from China and abroad explored the contemporary relevance of the Silk Road spirit, offering fresh perspectives for museum innovation, storytelling and cultural transmission.

The program concluded with the Inter-Museum Connectivity roundtable, where delegates engaged in practical discussions on exhibition collaboration and future planning.
