Ningxia Museum Hosts Exhibition on Ancient Greek Pottery and Apulian Art and Culture

On March 27, 2026, the special exhibition The Gifts of the Gods: Apulia Felix among Greeks, Indigenous and Romans opened at the Ningxia Museum in Yinchuan, China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Bringing together rare artifacts from Italy’s Apulia region, the exhibition is framed through the lens of ancient Greek mythology while placing these works in dialogue with Silk Road relics from Ningxia, vividly recreating the long history of exchange and integration between Eastern and Western civilizations along the Silk Road.
The exhibition features more than 120 valuable objects, including pottery, sculpture and coins. Organized into seven sections including “Ruler of the Deep: Poseidon,” “Bearer of the Harvest: Demeter”, “Guardian of the City-State: Athena”, “Creator of Wine: Dionysus”, “Herald of Light: Apollo”, “Defender of Strength: Heracles” and “Echoes of the East: Greek Memories Along the Ancient Silk Road”—it weaves together mythological narrative and inter-civilizational dialogue to illuminate the splendor of Apulian civilization, where art, commerce and agriculture flourished in tandem. At the same time, the exhibition traces the spread of ancient Greek civilization along the Silk Road, highlighting the exchanges and mutual learning that linked the civilizations of East and West.
The exhibition is open until July 5.
