On August 14, two lectures, with the theme of "Museumization of Museums and Cultural Heritage of Central Asian Countries" were successfully held online, both of which were part of the "Belt and Road Lecture Series". The main speakers presented their study on museums and cultural heritage in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan respectively.
The first lecture entitled "Preservation of Cultural Heritage at the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan" was presented by Dr. Otabek Aripdjanov, Deputy Director of the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan. Dr. Aripdjanov introduced the development and experience in preserving history and culture, as well as archaeological expeditions of the State Museum, emphasizing the important role museums play in protecting and preserving cultural heritage. He also introduced the Tashkent Museum, which was newly opened two months ago.
The second lecture entitled "Museumization of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was given by Moldir Tynaikulova, doctoral candidate from the Department of History, Archaeology and Ethonology, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan. Dr. Tynaikulova explained the definition of Museumization, offered the interpretation of Kazakh laws and regulations on historical and cultural heritage and introduced the Museumization process of cultural heritage in Kazakhstan. In addition, she introduced Kazakh UNESCO World Heritage Sites and offered several cases of Museumization of cultural heritage in Kazakhstan.
The "Belt and Road Lecture Series" is jointly organized by Fudan University and the Central Asian Education Advisory Center of Kazakhstan. Eighteen experts and scholars from China, Central Asia and Europe are invited to share academic research fruits in various fields including genetics, history, archaeology, museology, economics and sociology. The series also aims at promoting discussion on the Belt and Road research, as well as further boosting the academic and people-to-people exchange among countries alongside the Belt and Road.
