Chinese Gongbi Painting Exhibition Opens at Russian State Museum of Oriental Art


An exhibition on Chinese gongbi painting is on display from September 9 to October 4 at the Russian State Museum of Oriental Art.

About 100 pieces of artwork, including 90 paintings, scrolls and hand-painted silk fans by contemporary Russian and Chinese artists are on show. "This year's exhibition is titled Summer Day in the Mountain Pavilion, while 36 artists from China, Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan participated," according to the event organizer Yulia Tolmacheva.

The exhibition is part of the Fourth Festival of Chinese Gongbi Painting, which is hosted by Moscow Club of Chinese Painting Gongbi and supported by China Cultural Center in Moscow. A series of lectures and courses will take place during the exhibition, and an online auction is planned after the exhibition.

Gongbi, or the meticulous brush technique is a style of traditional Chinese painting characterized by meticulous brushwork and special attention to detail and decorative effect.
