
On November 24, 2020, the exhibition Mirrors of Eternity: A Cultural Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Bronze Mirrors opened at the National Museum of China, marking the first comprehensive and systematic display of bronze mirror collection of the museum.
With 260 pieces/sets of exhibits carefully picked out of thousands of bronze mirrors and related cultural relics, the exhibition shows the development of ancient Chinese bronze mirrors and its historical, aesthetic, technological and cultural value. It is divided into seven units. Following historical development, the exhibition also includes thematic displays. By animation, multimedia interaction and other new technologies, the exhibition systematically presents the development history, manufacturing technology, trade circulation and inscription of bronze mirrors in ancient China, comprehensively reproduces the extraordinary achievements of bronze smelting and casting craftmanship in ancient China, and fully demonstrates the unique aesthetic consciousness, value orientation and pursuit of a better life of the Chinese people. Through showcasing craftmanship transmission and bronze mirror circulation, the exhibition also reflects the prosperity and development of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between various civilizations in countries and regions along the Silk Road.
