
In 2022, the State Historical Museum, Russia will celebrate its 150th anniversary. The museum has planned a series of jubilee exhibitions. Court Costume of the Mid 19th to Early 20th Centuries from the Collection of the State Hermitage Museum is one of them. It is the first time in fifteen years that the State Hermitage Museum presents its objects at the State Historical Museum. The exhibition opened on March 17, 2021 and will last until July 16, 2021.
Rituals and daily life in Russian palaces are reflected in the exhibition. The objects on display include paintings, documents, weapons, precious metal products, etc. Among them the most important are commemorative costumes and accessories, including the costumes and personal items of Russian Tsars and empresses, members of the royal family, aristocracy, and servants of the House of Romanov. These objects coming from the State Hermitage Museum will illustrate official ceremonies, feasts, fancy balls and other events held in the Russian palaces.
