A Special Exhibition of Maritime Relics Opens in China Maritime Museum

On November 5, 2021, World Maritime Quincentenary: A Special Exhibition of Maritime Relics In the 15th-19th Century opened in the China Maritime Museum.

From perspectives of science and technology, history, warfare, commerce and arts, the exhibition comprehensively presents the 500-year maritime history from four units with voyage, trade and warfare interwoven with each other. By showcasing legends of voyagers such as Zheng He, Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan, the mysteries of maritime technology and the development of trading system and maritime arts are revealed to the audience.

Exhibits include the sundial made exclusively for the Prince of Wales by George Adams in 1760, the only two remaining copies of research reports on Chinese Porcelain exported to Sweden via the Swedish East India Company,three ship models of Columbus’ sailing team and other rare materials.

The exhibition will last until February 20, 2022.
