Guangxi’s Maritime Silk Road Exhibition Tours to Yulin

Setting Sail: Guangxi’s Maritime Silk Road Cultural Relics of the Han Dynasty was opened at the Yulin City Museum, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on January 22, 2022. Curated by the Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, this is the third stop of the touring exhibition which has been to the Minhang Museum, Shanghai in 2019 and the Southern Han Mausoleums Museum, Guangdong in 2020.

With 101 items (sets) of cultural relics related to Maritime Silk Road culture, the exhibition comprises three parts: “Cross-sea Trade along Maritime Silk Road in the Han dynasty”, “Transmission of Technology and Culture”, and “Close relationship between Inner Land and Coastal Areas”. Items on display include gold coins with inscriptions, glass cups with bow string pattern, gold dodecahedrons, pottery bucket with inscription of Chinese characters “Jiu Zhen Fu”, ornaments made of crystal, beryl, agate, amber and carnelian and so on, representing the history of communication, integration and development of trade, technology, culture and aesthetic values between China and Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia and the Mediterranean countries.

The exhibition will continue through May 30, 2022.
