Global Silk Art Exhibition Opens at Guizhou Provincial Museum

2-2

On January 20, the exhibition A World of Silks: Global Silk Art was opened at the Guizhou Provincial Museum by joint effort with the China National Silk Museum.

In history, with wide spread of Chinese silk to the world through the Silk Road, silk has served as a medium to enable dialogues among different civilizations and exchanges as well as mutual learning among peoples from various areas in the past hundreds of years. Silk has served as a symbol not only of trade but also of communication and mutual learning among civilizations.

On show are 70 pieces (sets) of exhibits from more than 20 countries, such as China, Japan, the ROK, France, the UK and Italy. From the origin of silk in China, the exhibition was divided into three parts, “Asia”, “Europe” and “Africa and America”, showcasing silk types produced or used in different countries and areas in the four continents, shedding light on the improvement of life made by silk from China to the world.

The exhibition has been displayed at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou in 2016 and was partially presented for the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing in 2017.

The exhibition will be shown in Guizhou till April 20, 2022.
