This is the second exhibition in “A Dialogue with the World”— an exhibition series of arts and cultural relics, and the first exhibition jointly organised by the Shanghai Museum and National Gallery, London.
After two years of meticulous preparation, the exhibition has garnered the finest artworks from the collections of the National Gallery, London. Divided into eight sections, the exhibition features 52 paintings from 50 European masters, including Botticelli, Raphael, Titian, Gossaert, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Claude, Constable, Cézanne, Manet, Monet, Van Gogh and others. The exhibition showcases European art from the Renaissance to 19th century Post-Impressionism, providing a condensed history of its evolution.
Through the sharing and appreciation of art, this exhibition aims to replace estrangement and clash of civilizations with exchanges and mutual learning, and build "a garden of civilizations" featuring mutual appreciation and inspiration.
