The Of One Color: Chinese Porcelain Exhibition was unveiled at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Havana, Cuba on March 16, 2023. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Embassy of China in Cuba and the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Cuba. The 48 exquisite monochrome porcelains on display have been selected from over 1400 Chinese porcelains in the museum’s collection, including vases, food and drink vessels, brush holders and other varieties primarily from Jingdezhen, Dehua, Longquan and other Chinese regions created during China’s Song, Ming and Qing dynasties.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Ma Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, expressed that porcelain is an elegant calling card from China to the world, a fantastic symbol of trade and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and a testament to the Silk Road spirit. The Belt and Road Initiative aims to carry on the spirit of the Silk Road and achieve common development through deepening connectivity and international cooperation. Hence the exhibition will help to enhance people-to-people exchanges, close cultural ties and mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Cuba. Many guests at the opening ceremony expressed that ancient Chinese porcelain is a common heritage for all mankind. They are willing to work with China to promote the Silk Road spirit, jointly implement the Belt and Road Initiative, and enhance the welfare of people around the world.

Cuba’s National Museum of Decorative Arts is located inside a palace constructed in 1927, with a collection of over 30,000 objects.

The exhibition is open until April 22, 2023.
