
The exhibition titled The Legend of China’s Qin and Han Dynasties debuted at the Archaeological Museum of Alicante in Spain on March 28, 2023 as one of the opening events for the China-Spain Year of Culture and Tourism. The opening ceremony was attended by Hu Heping, Minister of Culture and Tourism of China.
The exhibition, supervised by the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, organised by the Shaanxi History Museum (Shaanxi Cultural Relics Exchange Center) and supported by the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum. The exhibition features 119 relics (sets) and 5 supplementary exhibits from nine museums and cultural institutions, including the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum. The collections on display include 10 life-sized terracotta warriors and horses excavated from Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum site, as well as gold and silver ware, bronze ware, ceramics, jade and other selected cultural relics.
In his address at the opening ceremony, Hu Heping expressed that The Legend of China’s Qin and Han Dynasties exhibition is a highlight event of the China-Spain Year of Culture and Tourism. It reflects the practical approaches to realizing continuity of a traditional friendship and deepening cultural exchanges and mutual learning.
Carlos Mazon, President of Spain’s Alicante provincial council, indicated at the opening ceremony that the exhibition is a “historic moment.” As a result of the good relations and close cooperation between Spain and China, locals and visitors from around world will have “a unique opportunity to appreciate the beauty of these archaeological achievements” at the Archaeological Museum of Alicante.
The exhibition is open until January 29, 2024.
