
The exhibition Treasures from the Zhongshan State was officially unveiled at the Nanyue King Museum on March 15, 2024. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Nanyue King Museum (Research Center for the History of Nanyue Kingdom of the Western Han Dynasty), the Hebei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology (Hebei Provincial Research Center for Nihe Bay), and Hebei Museum.
The exhibition features 175 unearthed artifacts (sets) from the Zhongshan State (414–296 BCE) in present-day Hebei province, China. Focusing on major archeological discoveries, the exhibition provides a comprehensive view of the magnificent political, economic, military and cultural accomplishments of the Zhongshan State through four sections: “Archaeological Excavations: Rediscovery of the Zhongshan State”, “Founding of a State: Rise and Fall”, “Roaring Chariots and Neighing Horses: A State of a Thousand War Chariots” and “Learning Rituals and Rites from the Central Plains: Diversity and Inclusiveness”. The exhibition highlights the history of unification among ethnic groups in northern China, and provides an in-depth interpretation of the development trajectory and evolutionary paradigm of the Chinese civilization that emphasizes unity in diversity.
The exhibition is open until June 16, 2024.
