Shanghai Museum Hosts “The Glory of Ancient Persia: Treasures from Iran ”

The exhibition The Glory of Ancient Persia: Treasures from Iran was unveiled on June 13, 2024 at the Shanghai Museum on People's Square.
The exhibition brings together 285 exquisite artifacts from the National Museum of Iran, Gorgan Palace Museum, Rasht Museum, Persepolis Museum, Shanghai Museum, Xinjiang Museum, and the Bayingol Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture  Museum. Together, they showcase the enduring history and magnificent civilization of ancient Persia, as well as its interactions with the Chinese civilization  through three sections: “Dawn on the Plateau”, “An Era of Glory” and “Art of Belief”.
The Shanghai Museum's director, Chu Xiaobo, remarked that Iran and China have a long history of bilateral relations, and continue to be committed to developing this relationship. Their interactions began with the establishment of the Silk Road over two millennia ago. Situated at the opposite ends of the vast Eurasian continent, ancient Iran and China were both pivotal driving forces for economic and cultural exchanges along the Silk Road. Through the Silk Road network, ancient civilizations exchanged goods, shared ideas and blended cultures. This has significantly promoted the development of human civilization, attesting to the fact that civilizations become richer and more colorful through exchanges and mutual learning .
The exhibition is open until October 7.
