
The Second Liangzhu Forum opened on November 25 in Hangzhou, China. The event was jointly hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Cultural Heritage Administration.
Under the theme of “Exchanges and Mutual Learning for a New Model for of Human Advancement”, the forum was attended by 300 guests from more than 60 countries and regions, including archaeologists, writers and musicians. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the “Rediscovery of Civilization: Archaeology from a Global Perspective and Variety of Civilizations", "Creativity of Literature: Resonance of World Literature and Development of Human Society" and "Evolution of Music Spirit: Modern Echoes of Global Music Legacies".
Leveraging the evidential role of the Liangzhu archeological site, the forum integrated historical perspectives with a global vision to build consensus between cultural communities worldwide in the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI). Focusing on key areas such as cultural heritage, literature and music, the forum aimed to advance theoretical research on civilizational exchange and mutual learning, explore practical pathways to implement the GCI and plan the direction of cooperation.
The Compendium of Chinese Painting through the Ages: Song Dynasty Paintings Exhibition and a thematic concert titled Echoes of Liangzhu were also held alongside the forum.
