The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Azerbaijan, together with the embassies of the EU member states, has organized the first European national costumes exhibition as part of the FantazEU Cultural Heritage Festival from November 27 to 30, 2024. The exhibition is aimed at introducing the Azerbaijani audience to the world of the European traditional costumes through the centuries.
The Embassies of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia provided their national costumes which feature their traditions from different historical periods, demonstrating a diversity and cultural experience of EU nations.
“National costume is a reflection of the history of the nation. It is formed under the influence of social and economic, cultural and historical, natural and geographical factors. That is the reason why the national costume becomes a source for learning culture of different countries.” said EU Ambassador H.E. Peter Michalko.
FantazEU Festival is the successor of the Fantazia Cultural Heritage Festival, which has been organized by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan since 2018. It aims at promoting European cultural diversity. The program also includes organization of arts exhibitions, live arts workshops, online city tours from EU countries, etc.
