Annual Meeting of CMA Silk Road Museums Committee Opens in Hangzhou, China

From July 10 to 12, the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Museums Association’s (CMA) Silk Road Museums Committee, featuring a symposium titled "Mutual Learning of Civilizations along the Silk Road from a Museum Perspective," was held in Hangzhou, China. The event was hosted by the CMA Silk Road Museums Committee and jointly organized by the Fujian Museum and the China National Silk Museum. Representatives from the CMA and members of the Silk Road Museums Committee attended the conference.
At the symposium, six experts and scholars from the China National Silk Museum, Hohhot Museum, Shanxi Museum, Hunan Museum, Hubei Provincial Museum and Shaanxi Yellow River Cultural Museum offered insights from diverse perspectives: maritime transport, the Great Tea Road, Silk Road exhibitions, the Maritime Silk Road during the Han dynasty (202 BCE–220 CE), Dunhuang manuscripts, and inter-civilizational exchange. Through engaging presentations, data-driven analysis and detailed historical sources, they illustrated a vivid image of cultural integration, diversity and inclusion along the Silk Road. The symposium provided valuable perspectives for deepening our understanding of Silk Road cultures and advancing the conservation and transmission of Silk Road cultural heritage.
