A major exhibition of ancient Roman artworks, Roma: From Olympus to the Capitoline, officially opened on 10 November at the Shanghai World Expo Museum. Jointly curated by the Shanghai World Expo Museum and National Museums Liverpool, the exhibition offers visitors an immersive, “all-in-one encounter” with the artistic brilliance of classical Western civilization.The 131 objects (sets) on display—including sculptures, pottery, glassware, gemstones, sarcophagus reliefs—all come from National Museums Liverpool and are being shown in Shanghai for the first time. The exhibition provides a panoramic view of ancient Rome from mythology to empire to secular life in three thematic sections: “Legends of Gods”, “Glory of the Empire” and “Feasts of Life”.
The exhibition is open until May 5, 2026.
