Event for China-Kazakh Cultural Exchange Held in Astana, Kazakhstan

The cultural exchange event When Bronze Encounters the Golden Man took place from June 22 to 24 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Jointly hosted by the city of Baoji in China’s Shaanxi province, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nazarbayev University, the event leveraged the themes of “bronze” and “gold” to create a bridge for cultural dialogue. It marked a new chapter in promoting Chinese culture abroad, facilitated cultural exchange along the Belt and Road, and yielded several fruitful collaborations.
On June 22, the event Bronze and Gold: A Dialogue between Civilizations was held at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Scholars and museum professional from China and Kazakhstan came together to explore new avenues for international museum cooperation.
On June 23, the main event of the exchange program, When Bronze Encounters the Golden Man, was held at Nazarbayev University. Governmental and cultural representative from both countries, along with university students, engaged in discussions on mutual learning between civilizations and the lasting legacy of cross-cultural friendship.
On June 24, a cultural fair under the same theme was held at the MEGA Silk Road Mall in Astana, attracting nearly a thousand local residents to experience the charm of Chinese culture through immersive activities.
A key outcome of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Baoji Bronzeware Museum. The two institutions plan to enhance collaboration through jointly curated cultural programs and resource sharing, and deepen museum-to-museum exchanges and mutual learning in the areas of cultural exchange, academic research and professional training.
Berik Abdygaliuly, Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted that this dialogue between civilizations lays a strong foundation for joint future exhibitions and collaborative projects. He expressed hope that continued cooperation between museums will bring more treasured cultural relics into public view.
